Ovarinnovate: Ovarcome Research Excellence Award
Two $10,000 one-year awards
Please Note: Candidates are required to be a Fellow-in-Training member of the SGO to be eligible for this award.
Applicants will be encouraged to develop research proposals related to ovarian cancer that incorporate cooperation with colleagues from other institutions. Submissions addressing rare diseases, therapeutics, quality of life, patient-reported outcomes, education or palliative care are encouraged.
The Foundation gratefully acknowledges Ovarcome for the support of this grant. Established in 2016 through grants from from the SGO and Ovarcome, the SGO Collaborative Fellow-In-Training Research Award and Ovarinnovate: Ovarcome Research Excellence Award focuses on promoting collaborative research efforts amongst gynecologic oncology fellows on a national level. Ovarcome's mission is to raise global awareness, to fund research in search of cures, and to provide financial support to underprivileged women in the U.S. as well as developing nations in their valiant fight against ovarian cancer. This is the third research grant supported by Ovarcome.

Wilma Williams Education and Clinical Research Award for Endometrial Cancer
$30,000 one-year award
This grant is related to Endometrial Cancer.

POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP AWARDS

Clovis Oncology Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award
$202,500 three-year award ($67,500 x 3 years)
The purpose of this award is to attract and support promising scientists and clinician/scientists who are embarking on careers dedicated to gynecologic cancer research. By providing funding to outstanding postdoctoral/postgraduate fellows under the guidance of a mentor, the Foundation for Women’s Cancers seeks to ensure the next generation of skilled and trained scientists in the field of gynecologic cancer research. In particular, this award seeks research projects that aim to address the following:

  • Identify biomarkers (circulating or tissue-based) for predicting response or resistance to PARP inhibitors
  • Develop and/or validate a QoL/PRO instrument for the maintenance setting in ovarian cancer or other gynecologic cancers
  • Identify rational combinations with PARP inhibitors

Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award
$202,500 three-year award ($67,500 x 3 years)
The purpose of this award is to accelerate new discoveries in the field of gynecologic malignancies. This award will support a multi-year period of mentored research that will investigate PARP inhibition for the treatment of these malignancies and/or the mechanisms of PARP resistance, including an analysis of biomarkers predictive of or associated with PARP inhibition response or resistance.

2017-2018 FOUNDATION FOR WOMEN’S CANCER RESEARCH PRIZES

Foundation for Women’s Cancer/Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation Excellence in Ovarian Cancer Research Prize in Honor of Ronald D. Alvarez, MD
$5,000 one-year award
This annual prize will be given to an individual who can best demonstrate that he or she has been able to use their Foundation award to improve women’s health care by obtaining independent extramural funding, making important contributions to the literature, and/or developing programs that improved women’s health care, including early detection. This award is to the individual and not his or her institution. Only past Foundation award winners qualify for this prize and should apply by completing the application. Learn More

Perlman Family CCARE Lynch Syndrome Research Prize
$1,500 one-year award

Funding is available for a $1,500 stipend for a trainee to support a summer or short-term research project that advances knowledge about Lynch syndrome and its role in gynecologic cancers. The successful applicant must submit a short summary of the project’s goals and expected outcomes co-signed by the applicant’s mentor and supervisor.
